The Great Alex Aguinaga

  He led Ecuador to its first ever FIFA World Cup at 2002. He was team Captain and gave an assistance in the final qualifying game.  He played during 14 years at Mexico and became in a soccer legend. He won three LIGA MX titles with his Club Necaxa in 1990's.

  He is living in Mexico and staying involved in soccer events and interviews. He is very active in sport media and soccer programs. He is helping to promote Ecuadorian soccer as an official ambassador. He represents Ecuador at International events and supports soccer projects around the world.

  He works as a football commentator on Fox Sports Mexico. He talks about football (soccer) matches and analyzes teams and players He loves to teach and inspire the next generation. He shares his knowledge of the game with younger players and soccer fans.

Álex Darío Aguinaga Garzón, born in Ibarra, Ecuador, on July 9, 1968, is a former Ecuadorian soccer player considered a soccer legend in his country and Mexico. He stood out for his talent, technique and vision of the game, playing as a midfielder. He played mainly for Deportivo Quito and Liga de Quito in Ecuador, and for Necaxa and Cruz Azul in Mexico. With Necaxa, the club where he played for 14 years, he won several titles, including three league championships and a Concacaf Champions Cup.
